Assignment #2

In the novel "The Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao," author Junot Diaz creates a dramatic plot structure in order to demonstrate that Oscar's death deeply correlates to the book's message that females hold power due to the male's desire for sex and love. In the novel, Oscar faces tough challenges when it came to females. As the novel goes on and reaches the climax, Yunior talks about Oscar's death. In the story, Oscar falls in love with a prostitute named Ybon. Oscar's relationship with Ybon just raises conflict between Ybon's ex-boyfriend Capitan. Therefore, in the falling action, Capitan takes Oscar to a field and kills Oscar. This plot structure led to Oscar's unfortunate death. Why did he die? Woman, love, and his beliefs was the cause of it. Oscar died because of his love for Ybon. Oscar's luck with females never had a happy ending. The book close with these dramatic ending, leaving the reader with a positive exclamation despite all of the curse and thematic negative space that fill the novel.
